Peggy Porschen, Belgravia
Tea and a slice of cake anyone? Perhaps coffee and a cupcake? Peggy Porschen is perfectly picturesque, serving up a great selection of cakes and hot drinks. The famous floristry that drapes the doorway is a tourist favourite, and the bright pink theme carries on inside.
Tiny marble tables, pastel coloured cakes and dinky cutlery make the dining experience even more delicate and feminine, and while you will pay over the odds for a small cupcake (mine was £5.25!) it's probably worth it for the photos. I chose the Eton Mess cupcake, bottom right, that was absolutely delicious with cream, meringue and a plastic heart that injected jam into the cake. While I did resent the cost, it's definitely more of a one-off than your weekly catch-up with the girls.
If you're ever looking for somewhere cute to go that'll hit that sweet spot, Peggy Porschen is a great choice. It's a thumbs-up for the experience/deco/cakes but a thumbs-down for the price - although I'm blaming that on the fact that it once made an appearance on Made in Chelsea.
