Brown & Rosie, South Kensington
A small little cafe just a few minutes from South Kensington station, it would be easy to miss. I spotted Brown and Rosie on Instagram after someone uploaded a picture of an acai bowl. On a trip to Valencia, I tried acai for the first time and have been desperate to have another, so I was sold as soon as I saw the photo.
I think you can book a table, but it's not too clear how online so we turned up hoping it wasn't going to be too busy. Luckily, it wasn't and we were sat straight away. Already fully aware that we were both going to order the delicious bowls, we went straight up to the counter. It came to £10.50 for one standard bowl with a side of almond butter, so it probably isn't the cheapest breakfast you'll find.
For anyone who hasn't experience acai, it's a superfood, often frozen (the purple bit in the bowl) and has a similar texture to a frozen smoothie. Boasting a number of health benefits, it's quickly becoming every health-nut's go-to breakfast.
Most bowls I've seen come with some fruit, in this case raspberries, blueberries and coconut shavings, and all sorts of other goodness. Ours had chia seeds and (if I remember correctly) peanut, and we shared some extra almond butter and granola for a bit of texture.
It was delicious. Previously, I've had dark chocolate mixed in which I do think this was missing, but even so it was great combination of flavours. The acai is very cold so you'll have to eat it slowly to avoid brain freeze, but I would definitely recommend it. It's the perfect breakfast to set you up for a productive weekend. Brown and Rosie, it's a thumbs-up from me.
